I wanted to talk with someone about making sure my family was taken care of, in case something would happen to me. I called a lawyer and he suggested that I meet him to draw up a will and he also told me to make sure that I had enough life insurance. Since I had no life insurance, I called my agent to get a life insurance quote. He asked me what kind of life insurance quote I wanted and I let him know that I needed to have my policy in place very quickly so no medical life insurance would probably be best.

My agent was able to fax over the life insurance quote for a no medical life insurance policy for me that would be enough to pay all my debts, my funeral costs and take care of my family for a long time, if anything would happen to me. I took a copy of the policy to the meeting with the lawyer when we wrote up my will. He was very impressed that I had taken the two biggest steps to making sure everything was in place.

I thought that writing a will and planning for my death would be difficult and make me feel horrible, but it did just the opposite, it made me feel responsible and that I was prepared for anything.
